The tour includes a guided bus tour around the island and then a visit into the prison facility with an ex-political prisoner who lived there just after Mr Mandela was moved to another prison.

If you would like to go in a private vehicle when you arrive on the island, you can expect to pay about 7-8 times more than the standard ticket price, but if you can afford it, the experience is well worth it.

If you want to understand South Africa and have an interest in Nelson Mandela’s life, then you should make sure you visit this deeply reflective place.
